Lifeware TEK Launches i-COOK Recipe Management System

Industry Leader Collaborates With Culinary Institute to Establish Online Standard

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Dec. 12 /- Lifeware TEK announced today the introduction of the i-COOK(SM) Recipe Management System, an innovative software solution designed to enhance the value of recipe collections by simplifying the process of building the online resource used to store, access and share the information for a range of food business applications and communications media.

Lifeware TEK made the announcement in conjunction with The Culinary Institute of America's recent publication of its flagship textbook, The Professional Chef, 8th Edition. Lifeware TEK and the CIA collaborated in the development of i-COOK, and agreed to introduce their respective products to the markets simultaneously.

A part of the launch, i-COOK is being released as a series of applications that uses its innovative, core technology to establish the digital standard for the format, features and functionalities of recipe content. Each application, however, offers unique options for accessing and managing that content within today's interactive, multi-media communications environment.

i-COOK Manager(SM) is a web-hosted version of the program that provides users with online access to their own recipe databases as well as licensed collections from Lifeware TEK's publishing partners. In addition, users are provided with interactive tools needed for creating, editing, publishing and archiving their own content.

The desktop edition, i-COOK Pro(SM), delivers the same functionality as i-COOK Manager, but with the added flexibility of a program running on the user's desktop. The initial release of this version is being marketed as i-COOK ProChef(SM) and includes the 600+ recipes published in the CIA's highly acclaimed cooking textbook.

A third edition, i-COOK Enterprise(SM), scheduled for release during the first half of 2007, will provide a fully-integrated solution for manufacturers, suppliers, cookbook publishers, culinary associations, councils and other organizations to create, manage and distribute their recipe content over the Internet, as well as wide and local area communications networks.

Lydia Cheng, President of Lifeware TEK, believes i-COOK's user-friendly interface, range of cost-effective options and capacity to turn any recipe collection into a valuable asset means that the program has the potential to be the most widely-used online solution for collecting, sharing and archiving recipes.

"Professionals within the food industry, as well as a large contingent of culinary arts enthusiasts, have been waiting a long while for i-COOK," said Cheng. "Anyone who has ever created or maintained recipe databases will appreciate the power of i-COOK, which has been designed to preserve the integrity of the recipe while providing users with an easy-to-use tool."

With the proliferation of recipe content on the web, it was only a matter of time that a solution be developed to standardize recipe management and distribution," Cheng added. "i-COOK simplifies the administrative tasks which means more time for creativity in the kitchen."

The launch of i-COOK positions Lifeware TEK as the leader in developing online database and communications technology to improve recipe content management. i-COOK is a simple, inexpensive solution for organizing and distributing recipe-related information across standard multi-media communications environments and networks.

According to Mark Erickson, Vice President of Continuing Education at the CIA, "i-COOK will be to recipes what iTunes is to music." He added that both food and culinary professionals and enthusiasts would find i-COOK's ability to import, modify and distribute content from a variety of sources easy and quick.

"i-COOK gives educators the means to control the use of recipes, from creation to publication," said Erickson. "By incorporating relevant nutrition, ingredient management techniques, and food safety information into the equation, we now have a new perspective on the recipe as an asset with great value."

Founded in 1982, Lifeware TEK is the premier developer of interactive, online communications solutions for businesses, associations and educational institutions in the food and culinary industries. The company headquarters are located in St. Augustine, Florida.
