Slitting & 16-Position Computerized Smartwinder(TM) Spooling System for Flat Tissue Material

Independent Machine Co. of Fairfield, NJ has developed its latest system for slitting
and traverse winding flat tissue material 1/4" wide. The slitting station with
unwind is modular and completely separate from the 16-position Smartwinders(TM) traverse winding section.

The new 10" wide system includes modular slitting station with cantilevered unwind. Adjustable unwind tension is controlled by an ultra sonic diameter measurement feedback system which will provide programmable proportional constant tension as required The slitter is the main speed reference for the system with a range to 750FPM and accommodates interchangeable assemblies for shear, score and razor slitting. Edge trim trim from each side of the web is removed by a venturri-type vacuum system.

Each of the 16 cantilevered Smartwinder(TM) traverse winding positions accommodates a max 8" wide x 10" OD spool. The system is easily expandable for additional winding positions. Each position operates completely independent of all other positions and has a computerized, fully adjustable, servo driven traverse that will vary pitch, stroke length, end dwell and winding pattern by laterally moving the spool through Smartwinders(TM) software.

Precise programmable rewind tension at each position accurate to within 7 grams is controlled by a closed loop follower drive system through the exclusive IMC Dancer/Tension Controller with a 25:1 tension range. The operator Touchscreen has recipe storage capability for all winding operating parameters and machine function settings .Other features include: auxiliary Rewind for excess material not slit static eliminators positioned after slitting, Allen-Bradley PLC and Panelview Touchscreen .
