Pittsburgh Corning's Glass Block Shower Systems Streamline Installation of Distinctive Glass Block Showers
PITTSBURGH, PA- The popularity of glass block showers continues to grow and Pittsburgh Corning Corporation is the first to introduce a system that is easy to install and looks great. The first of its kind, this system offers builders and remodelers all
components necessary for easier design and installation of glass block shower enclosures.
"Based on the success of our LightWise® pre-fabricated glass block window line, it was a natural progression to offer easier to install glass block shower enclosures," said Pittsburgh Corning President and CEO, Donald Schlegel. "Shower enclosures represent the second highest use of glass block in residential applications, and with Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems, builders now have an easy and more affordable
way to offer the aesthetic value, durability, privacy and ease of maintenance of glass block for shower applications."
Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems are available in three styles:
• 48" x 48" square with door and base featuring the DECORA® or IceScapes® pattern glass block;
• 52" x 52" neo angle with door and base featuring the DECORA® or IceScapes® pattern glass block; and
• 72" x 51" doorless entry curved unit with right or left entry with base incorporating the ARQUE® glass block in the DECORA® or IceScapes® pattern.
Components included in the Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems package are: Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block; custom designed acrylic base; shower door (where applicable) and easy to follow instructions.
Builders and remodelers will find Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems easy to use, as the bases are specially designed to accommodate and support glass block. Once the base is in place, the block and doors can be quickly installed, reducing total installation time, labor coordination and cost.
"While there will be occasions when a custom glass block installation will be desired or needed, Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems will provide builders, remodelers and consumers an easy alternative to traditional shower enclosures by
providing a custom look without the custom hassles," said Schlegel.
Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Shower Systems are available in three styles and carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $2,500 to $3,500 installed, depending on the style. Installed cost includes an allowance for tiling the back wall, but does not include plumbing and fixtures.
