Ruggedized Rubidium Clock for EMI-Sensitive Applications

Spectratime's SRO-5680 is designed for defense, radar and communications applications

Spectratime, a world-leading provider of high precision clocks and a business of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO), today announces its new Rubidium clock for high EMI environments. The SRO-5680 is the latest GPS/GNSS synchronized Rubidium oscillator integrating complex functionality in one low-cost, EMI-shielded package. It utilizes SmarTiming+® technology to intelligently synchronize, discipline, and control any Stratum-1 reference such as GPS/GNSS, Cesium, Hydrogen Maser, and T1/E1 at cutting-edge 1 ns resolution.

According to Pascal Rochat, CEO of Spectratime, "More and more defense, radar and communications applications utilize higher frequencies that can affect the stability of the frequency reference. The new SRO-5680 is specifically designed to reduce the sensitivity of electro-magnetic interference so it can deliver reliable frequency precision to these systems."

In addition to an EMI-shielded enclosure, the SRO-5680 isolates its precision timing and frequency signals on three SMA connectors: 1 PPS reference input, 1 PPS output, and 10 MHz RF output. Other performance characteristics include:

Frequency offset over temp. range: +/-5E-11

Short-term stability : 1E-12 / 100 sec

Low warm-up current : <1.2A

Ultra low aging : <+/-5E-11 / month

Low phase noise output (10 MHz RF out) : 95 dBc @ 10 MHz
