November 8, 2011 - Offering paint formulators hydrophobically-modified alkali soluble emulsion alternative to hydrophobically-modified hydroxyethyl cellulose, ACRYSOL(TM) DR-110 is manufactured without added solvent or use of APEO surfactants. Available in high-solids, all-liquid form that can be added during any stage of paint making, modifier is effective across full range of paint bases, from white to accent. At higher, more challenging tint levels of deep colors, ACRYSOL DR-110 offers resistance to viscosity loss.

PHILADELPHIA, - is a new HASE offering from Dow Coating Materials that offers architectural paint formulators a cost-effective alternative to hydrophobically-modified hydroxyethyl cellulose (HMHEC). Product is now available for sampling.

"ACRYSOL DR-110 Rheology Modifier takes the best properties of ACRYSOL ASE Thickeners and combines them with the benefits of ACRYSOL HASE Associative Rheology Modifiers," said Joan Schuller, North America general manager, Dow Coating Materials. "The result is an attractive alternative to HMHEC for thickening a full range of waterborne latex coatings, from flat to semi-gloss and across all binder types."

ACRYSOL(TM) DR-110 Rheology Modifier is manufactured without added solvent or the use of APEO surfactants. It is available in a high-solids, all-liquid form that can be added during any stage of paint making, including the letdown. In many formulations, ACRYSOL DR-110 Rheology Modifier builds viscosity with noticeably better efficiency than either HMHEC or HEC, resulting in notable use-cost savings.

ACRYSOL DR-110 Rheology Modifier is effective across the full range of paint bases, from white to accent. At the higher, more challenging tint levels of deep colors, ACRYSOL DR-110 offers resistance to viscosity loss that is comparable to HMHEC.
