New High Performance Repair Station Introduced by Cooper Hand Tools

APEX, N. C. - November 21, 2007 - Cooper Hand Tools announces the introduction of the Weller WR 3M Repair Station, an extremely capable tool for the repair of state-of-the-art electronic sub-assemblies. The new product is designed to provide exceptional performance in repair applications at industrial production facilities, engineering operations, and laboratories.

"This new platform includes many innovative, industry-first features, including three independent tool channels with automatic tool detection," said Glenn Schindo, Cooper Hand Tools Global Business Development Manager, Electronics. "It's also the only system on the market that delivers 400 watts of power while operating three soldering tools simultaneously. By simply connecting the tool, users can automatically see that tool's settings on a large LCD display that is easy to read and use."

Precise temperature control is guaranteed by a blend of digital control and heat-transfer with a superior-quality sensor. High-speed measured-value acquisition provides maximum temperature precision and optimum dynamic temperature performance in load situations.

The Weller Repair Station is compatible with a variety of tools and is bundled with an upgraded hot air pencil (HAP 200, lead-free with up to 200-watts, another industry first), and a soldering iron (WP 80), desoldering iron (DXV 80), plus a vacuum pencil (WVP). Dedicated safety rests are included for the hot air pencil, soldering iron, and desoldering iron. There is also an accessory kit available, featuring seven different nozzles, that facilitates the soldering and desoldering of large SMT components up to 30 x 30 m. A USB port and software integrate the system with a PC for easier data logging and monitoring.

The WR 3M has received the prestigious 2007 Red Dot design award for innovative product design. Red dot is an internationally recognized quality label for design excellence awarded based on selection in an annual international design competition.
