Streamlight® Announces New Rechargeable Flashlight Designed for Ultimate Safety in Hazardous Conditions

Flashlight is Given Intrinsically Safe Class 1, Division 1 Designation

EAGLEVILLE, PA - Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance flashlights for professionals, announced a new product, the PolyStinger® LED HAZ-LO®. The ultra-bright rechargeable flashlight is the first intrinsically safe, Class 1, Division 1 light in the popular Stinger® series, and is designed for use by professionals who face potentially hazardous conditions on the job.

Using patented C4® LED technology, the new light provides extreme brightness while delivering a tight beam with optimum peripheral illumination. The combination of the power LED and Streamlight's expert engineering delivers 130 lumens measured system output and 15,000 candela peak beam intensity for 4 hours on the high setting, and 50 lumens and 5,700 candela for 12 hours on the low setting. The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO also has a moonlight mode, allowing for 20 days of continuous runtime at 120 candela and 1.3 lumens.

Due to its construction and performance, the PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO has been approved by USTC as an intrinsically safe Class 1, Division 1 flashlight for use in hazardous locations, atmospheres and environments, including petro-chemical, utility and other heavy industrial applications.

"The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO received the highest possibly safety rating and is ideal for those who work in potentially hazardous environments," said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. "Whether it's used when working around electrical equipment, in environments where flammable gases may be present, or at the scene of a fire, professionals in a variety of fields will appreciate the safety of this light, along with its high performance and outstanding features."

With its rechargeable batteries and power LED technology, the PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO also gives users one of the lowest operating costs of any intrinsically safe flashlight made, Sharrah added.

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO is constructed with super-tough, chemical and corrosion resistant nylon polymer and includes a camshaft style grip. Featuring a C4 LED that is impervious to shock with a 50,000 hour lifetime, the light is equipped with a multi-function, head-mounted electronic pushbutton switch designed for extremely long life.

The new light measures 10.2 inches in length, and weighs 13.5 ounces with its battery, a 4-cell, 4.8 volt nickel-cadmium sub-C battery, which is rechargeable up to 1,000 times. The new light is also compatible with existing Streamlight Stinger® chargers.

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO has an unbreakable polycarbonate lens with a scratch-resistant coating that wears through spills and maintains clarity in difficult work environments. The light is O-ring sealed, features an IPX4 rated water-resistant design, and is impact resistant to 3 meters.

Available in black or yellow, the light is backed by Streamlight's Limited Lifetime warranty. The suggested retail price with AC/DC chargers is $219.00.
