April 8, 2011 - Designed as product infeed unit for horizontal flow wrappers, Intelligent Transport System (ITS) balances out product flow irregularities, creates defined spaces, and synchronizes product and film speeds. This ensures careful product transport of sensitive and non-accumulable food and confectionery products. Able to achieve max output of 1,400 products/min, compact and modular system accommodates new formats via button actuation and without requiring changeover time.

Interpack 2011 Bosch's New Intelligent Transport System for a Wide Range of Applications

Flexible processing of non-accumulable products

  • Output up to 1,400 products per minute
  • Compact build with highly modular design
  • Format changes at the push of a button

At Interpack 2011, in Düsseldorf, Bosch introduces its Intelligent Transport System (ITS), a product infeed unit for horizontal flow wrappers. ITS balances out product flow irregularities, creates defined spaces and synchronizes product and film speeds. The system ensures careful product transport of sensitive and non-accumulable food and confectionery products. As a result of its small deflection radius, the ITS can transfer products directly to the packaging material of the horizontal flow wrapper. Despite its compact design, it achieves output levels of up to 1,400 products per minute. New formats can be introduced at the push of a button and without changeover time.

ITS is a mechatronic system powered by linear motors, in which over 30 rotors are moved independently and wear-free. A programmable logic controller (PLC) monitors and permanently regulates each rotor. In order to meet high demands with regards to precision and dynamics, an ethernet-based, real-time bus system is used. This enables ITS to reach speeds of over three meters per second. An absolute multi-positional detection system ensures that the exact position of each rotor can be determined at all times - a reference run is not required.

Due to its modular design, the Intelligent Transport System allows easy integration into Bosch packaging lines and offers a wide range of applications.

At Interpack 2011, Bosch presents two applications of the Intelligent Transport System. On the Bosch stand, in Hall 6 at booth B09-C58, it can be seen together with the Sigpack HCUR horizontal flow wrapper with ultrasonic sealing, as well as in combination with the Miniwrap BVK 2000, a horizontal flow wrapper for small-sized products. In both cases, the ITS provides the individual product infeed to the packaging machine.
