Weighing Technology Breakthrough: FX-i Precision Balance by A&D
Milpitas, CA - June 2008
A&D Weighing announces the launch of the new FX-i series of compact precision balances. A&D engineers faced a formidable task when asked by customers to design a precision balance with a 25% smaller footprint than their popular GF series. A&D had already provided breakthrough technology with the Super Hybrid Sensor (SHS), which combines the precision of a force restoration motor with the quick response time of a load cell. The key challenge was to reduce the size of the SHS in order to fit within the smaller configuration. Through the development of the unique Double Lever Mechanism (patent pending) A&D was able to reduce the volume of the SHS by 50% while still meeting stringent performance criteria. An additional benefit of the Compact SHS is that it consumes one-half of the current of the full-size model, allowing an optional battery to last up to 8 hours on a single charge.
The FX-i offers several connectivity choices, from the standard RS-232C to the optional USB port or optional Ethernet interface with WinCT-Plus software. The new Statistical Calculation Function (SCF) provides statistical data display or output of weighed samples. The FX-i is also capable of measuring in twelve different weighing units as well as providing percentage and counting functions. Six models are available from 120 g x 0.001 g to 3200 g x 0.01 g.
