SYCAMORE, IL, - An estimated 65% of CCTV system problems are caused by faulty cable connections and termination. To reduce these critical failures IDEAL has introduced a new line of ultra-dependable RG-59 and RG-6 Plenum BNC connectors featuring nickle-plated brass construction for superior corrosion resistance and field durability.
Engineered exclusively to satisfy the requirements of CCTV system installations, these 75-ohm connectors cover dual-shield Plenum-rated coaxial cables with a compression-style sleeve that adapts securely to a wide range of outer jacket cable diameters. Its tight fit prevents detachments from CCTV cameras, monitors or DVRs, as well as stops moisture from entering into the cable. Gold plated center and outer contacts provide outstanding electrical performance with a frequency range of up to 3 GHz, while colored cable bands allow for easy coding of video signals.
IDEAL recommends the use of its OmniSeal(TM) Pro XL compression tool (#30-793) for superior terminations of these new BNC connectors, as well as all IDEAL F, RCA, RG-11F and mini compression connectors.
Unlike standard coaxial cable, Plenum rated cable is jacketed with a fire-retardant plastic jacket so that it can be installed in enclosed building spaces where air is circulated as part of the HVAC. Standard BNC connectors can not be installed on Plenum cables, requiring the use of specialized Plenum connectors.
