April 20, 2010 - With identification range of 1.6-512 km, Model 6413 is designed to measure unit, connection, or transmission loss and locate faults and breaks in optical fibers. Mini-OTDR reads and writes files in Bellcore GR196 file format. It features 1.6 m short event dead zone, 0.1 m sample resolution with 65 k sampling points, pulse widths from 10-20,480 nm, and dynamic range of 42-40 dB. Equipped with USB interface for data transmission, device also transmits data to PC via serial or parallel interface.

Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer Features Wide Pulse Width


Toronto, Canada - GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) has launched its high performance Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) which is designed to measure unit, connection or transmission loss and locate faults and breaks in optical fibers. The mini-OTDR is widely used in the manufacture, construction and maintenance of optical networks.

This lightweight OTDR, model 6413, reads and writes files in Bellcore GR196 file format and offers a long identification range from 1.6km to 512km. It features 1.6m short event dead zone, 0.1m sample resolution with 65k sampling points, pulse widths rangingfrom 10ns to 20,480ns and a high dynamic range of 42dB to 40dB which ensures accurate signal processing. The rugged OTDR provides a USB interface for data transmission and also transmits data to a PC via a serial or parallel interface. FC and UPC connectors are provided for selection. The high performance OTDR works continuously for eight hours when it is fully charged; battery levels are displayed accordingly.
