The small, low-power Range Networks Professional Development Kit makes it easy to experiment with OpenBTS or to simulate small 2.5G cellular voice and data networks, making it possible to set up a test network and start making calls quickly. The Linux-based system combines access and core functions and exemplifies OpenBTS as a foundation for innovative and unique communications applications.

Additionally, any GSM band of operation can be selected via a software configuration.
