May 19, 2005 - TelosB Mote Platform, TPR2400, is an IEEE 802.15.4 compliant device for wireless mesh networking featuring TI MSP430 microcontroller. It provides integrated processor radio solution including USB interface, 2.4 GHz radio, onboard antenna, sensor interfaces, and optional preinstalled environmental sensor suite. IEEE 802.15.4 radio support allows for communications with other 802.15.4 radios.

Crossbow Technology Releases TelosB Mote Platform

Crossbow Furthers Commitment to Provide Leading Edge Technology to the Research and University Community to Advance Wireless Sensor Network Development

San Jose, California – May 2, 2005 – Crossbow Technology, Inc. (www.xbow.com), the leading end-to-end supplier in wireless sensor networks and the largest manufacturer of Smart Dust wireless sensors, announced today the release of the TelosB Mote platform, TPR2400. TelosB is an open-source experimental platform developed and published to the community by UC Berkeley. The IEEE 802.15.4 compliant device for wireless mesh networking features the TI MSP430 microcontroller. The platform provides an integrated processor radio solution including a USB interface, 2.4GHz radio, onboard antenna, sensor interfaces, and an optional preinstalled environmental sensor suite.

TPR2400 is an open research platform upon which cutting edge experiments on new ideas in sensor networks can be developed. The IEEE 802.15.4 radio support built into the TelosB module allows for communications with other 802.15.4 radios including the commercial grade, FCC/ARIB certified MICAz mote from Crossbow. TPR2400 is an uncertified radio platform, intended for research and lab studies. TRP2400 is fully compatible with UC Berkeley’s open-source TinyOS distribution (www.tinyos.net)

Crossbow’s offering of the TelosB Mote reflects its long-standing commitment to support the academic and research community with valuable products and strong customer support. “We want to enable and support research in Wireless Sensor Networks on a very large scale. Inaugural Release Promotion

Crossbow Technologies also announced a special inaugural release promotion valid for the months of May and June 2005. During the promotion period, TelosB can be purchased for $79, a 20% discount off its regular price of $99. Orders need to be placed in the months May and June to be valid for the promotional discount.
