SAMTECH to Present BOSS Quattro Release 5.1

Liege, Belgium - July 2006 - SAMTECH, a European technology specialist for the development of Integrated CAE Solutions, announces the launch of BOSS quattro V5.1, recognised powerful industrial software tool for parameterised analyses, stochastic analyses, design of experiments, Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation and updating of numerical models with experimental data. BOSS quattro V5.1 pilots SAMCEF Field V5 and CATIAV5 as well.

BOSS quattro is the well-known SAMTECH open MDO environment, which allows exploring a design space by providing a set of tools from simple parametric studies to fully automatic optimization. Among the main characteristics of BOSS quattro, let's mention that the platform provides drivers for most CAD & FEA commercial software available on the market and can also be easily connected to any in-house software.

SAMTECH demonstrates once more to the whole optimisation community its high level of expertise in scientific software development. The main other new capabilities of this version 5.1 of BOSS quattro are the chain rule for sensitivity combination when running sensitivity analysis, the mechanism to manage errors inside driven software tools, the possibility to deal with larger size problems and the use of XML format to archive a session. Concerning the infrastructure, different tools have been created and/or improved: the possibility to use an external optimisation engine, a new version of the optimiser GCM V3, many new run mechanisms (parallelism, remote...), an improvement of drivers for SAMCEF (recovery of SAMCEF Mecano sensitivities functions of time) and NASTRAN (XDB, SOL200), a driver for SAMCEF Field, the CAD based pre- and post-processor of SAMCEF, and also a compatibility with Linux distributions (SuSE, Mandrake...).

Moreover, BOSS quattro V5.1 is very well interfaced with CATIA V5. This version allows BOSS quattro users to access to the parameters from a CATIA V5 design table (associated to a CatPart or a CatAnalysis document) and to perform parametric studies, statistical analyses, optimisations, designs of experiments and response surfaces on analyses and simulation lead by CATIA V5 models. XML neutral export is also possible with the CATIA V5 interface.

Thanks to the BOSS quattro task manager, the users can integrate CATIA V5 in the design process, in an interactive manner, as any other commercial or in-house software tool usually managed by BOSS quattro (SAMCEF, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, EXCEL...).

"With a direct interface between BOSS quattro V5.1, SAMCEF Field V5 and CATIA V5, SAMTECH provides a complete design&verification&optimisation software chain, from CAD to the most advanced FE analyses", explains Didier Granville, Chief Marketing Officer of SAMTECH. "Nowadays the numerical simulation occurs very early in the design process of industrial companies. They want to check as soon as possible if their design is coherent and minimise their costs by using mature optimisation techniques. I'm convinced that this new version of BOSS quattro V5.1, will help companies to earn time and money, reducing trials-and-errors to the minimum."

About SAMTECH

SAMTECH s.a. is a European leading provider of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation (MDO). SAMTECH develops and markets the general-purpose Finite Element Analysis code SAMCEF, the Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation platform BOSS quattro.

Since SAMTECH creation in 1986 from the Aerospace Laboratory of University of Liege (LTAS, Belgium), an invaluable know-how and expertise built up by LTAS researchers and scientists has been continuously enriched by highly skilled development teams. Today, SAMTECH belongs to the short list of world industrial CAE software editors, offering very competitive industrial general-purpose software products for linear FEA and non-linear FEA/MBS thermo-mechanical problems, including metallic or composite materials.

SAMTECH provides industries also with dedicated Professional Solutions addressing specific applications to be solved in a particular industrial environment and based on the relevant engineering disciplines. These core products answer to a wide range of industrial needs from the preliminary phases of design to the most advanced verification analyses. The software technology of SAMTECH has an unsurpassed reputation for its quality and reliability. Many major companies have adopted its software across all engineering disciplines as an integral part of their design process.

SAMTECH Group currently employs more than 200 people, with 10 direct offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK for the development, technical support, sales and services, plus a network of technically advanced distributors in other markets. SAMTECH is a Dassault Systemes partner for the development of its products embedded in or connected to CATIAV5. SAMTECH is certified to ISO9001:2000 quality standards and operates through a network of subsidiaries and representatives in key locations around the world (China, India, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, Canada, USA, Argentina, Chile...).
