Sandmeyer Steel Company Adds SSC INVAR 36 (UNS K93603), a Nickel-Iron Dimensional Stable Alloy for Use in Aerospace Composite Tooling and Dies


Philadelphia, PA - Sandmeyer Steel Company has added SSC INVAR 36 (UNS K93603, W. Nr. 1.3912) to its extensive line of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. SSC INVAR 36 is an austenitic nickel-iron alloy with an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion from cryogenic temperatures through 400°F (200°C).

The alloy is utilized extensively in applications requiring precise dimensional stability. Major markets for SSC INVAR 36 plate include tools and dies for aerospace composite materials; cryogenic components and piping; liquefied natural gas production, storage and transportation; and laser components.

Sandmeyer Steel Company is stocking SSC INVAR 36 in plate thicknesses from .250" (6.3mm) through 4.00" (101.6mm). The Company stocks a large inventory of nickel alloy grades and a complete line of stainless steel plate. With over 16 million pounds in stock, the Company maintains the largest single-site inventory of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products in North America. Sandmeyer Steel Company has over 100 pieces of in-house value added plate processing equipment to supply customers with any size or configuration of specialty plate they require.
