AbTech Releases New Multi-Use Disposable Filter for Industrial Waste Water Treatment

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- AbTech Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: ABHD) ("AbTech" or the "Company") has completed testing on an exciting new product for the treatment of hazardous contaminated waste water. The multi-use "Smart Sponge 55" will initially be marketed to the chemical shipping, ground water remediation, and energy sectors.

The "Smart Sponge 55" has been designed as a self-contained, disposable 55 gallon drum filter system. AbTech believes there are many advantages to the new product offering. Since each filter system is fully self-contained, there is no human contact with the spent filter material. The entire treatment unit can be disposed of in an appropriate disposal site as a solid waste once all the water is drained out of the unit.

Quick couplings are provided on the unit that takes only seconds to disconnect the spent unit and connect the new unit. This feature makes it ideal for conditions where worker exposure to hazardous materials is of concern.

Other major advantages are there is no need to decontaminate used equipment at the end of the project, filter drums are simply properly disposed of. The capital cost of The AbTech treatment unit is insignificant compared to the operating costs of large fixed treatment systems.

"We are extremely excited about the potential for Smart Sponge 55. The relatively low cost of treating contaminated water on-site in self-contained units will open up significant new opportunities for the Smart Sponge technology," said Glenn Rink, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

AbTech is anticipating first commercial sales to begin in the third quarter 2011. The company is currently working with specific companies to deploy this new product in both the US and international markets.
