Milling Spindle works with 5-axis machining centers.
March 2, 2004 - Water-cooled MFW-2310/24 has 230 mm dia and uses hybrid (steel races with ceramic CERBEC® balls) angular contact bearings. Rated for constant torque of 62 Nm up to 10,800 min-1, it features HSK-A63 tool clamping system with rotary union that allows cooling through tool. Tools with diameters from 20–50 mm and cutting speeds to 4,000 m/min can be used. Spindle is designed for machining aluminum up to 24,000 rpm min-1 and 70 kW of power.

Fischer Introduces High Performance Milling Spindle for 5-Axis Machining Centers
(New Brighton, MN – February 2004) Fischer is offering a new spindle designed for machining aluminum up to 24,000 RPM min-1 and 70 kW of power. The spindle, model MFW-2310/24, has constant torque of 62 Nm up to 10,800 min-1. The spindle features an HSK-A63 tool clamping system with a rotary union which allows cooling through the tool. The spindle can also be configured to allow minimum mist lubrication for applications requiring this type of solution.
The high performance spindle uses hybrid (steel races with ceramic CERBEC® balls) angular contact bearings because of their inherent lower thermal expansion, smoother surface, increased hardness and stiffness, lighter weight, and corrosion/electrical-resistant properties. Its rigid shaft also contributes to reliability and long service life. Even at maximum spindle speeds and with shafts of large diameters, this type of bearing provides the rigidity required for 5-axis machines and the dynamic behavior of the spindle, as the shafts own frequency is much higher than its rotational frequency. To maintain the most stable temperature possible in a production environment, the spindle is water-cooled.
In shop use, the new spindle’s high speed machining technology permits the machining of thin-walled pockets from solid aluminum with excellent surface finishes. Conventional tools with diameters from 20 to 50mm and cutting speeds of up to 4,000 m/min. can be used. The MFW-2310/24 is ideally suited for machining such aluminum aerospace parts as fuselage and wing components. The spindle diameter is 230mm.
