Landis+Gyr Announces Availability of Gridstream MDMS 3.3 Delivering Scalable Business Process Automation and Business Intelligence

ATLANTA, -- Landis+Gyr announces availability of Gridstream® Meter Data Management System (MDMS) 3.3, which features enhancements that streamline utility processes, improve efficiency and extend the benefits of advanced metering data.

As a leading meter data management platform, Gridstream MDMS automates the movement of data between utility systems and advanced metering head end systems. In version 3.3, Landis+Gyr further extends the automation functionality that allows utilities to establish business rules governing common processes, all while keeping detailed audit records that ensure compliance with utility business policies.

The new version also includes embedded Cognos software from IBM. The combination of refined Gridstream MDMS data and this industry leading business intelligence reporting solution enhances the ability of utility personnel to assemble and easily interact with relevant operational information.  Utilities benefit from this ability to analyze data and provide fact-based recommendations using the most up to date information.

"Gridstream MDMS continues to deliver new ways to optimize utility interactions with advanced metering networks," said Dave Connaker, Landis+Gyr's President of Gridstream MDM Solutions. "Our exposure to the business needs of hundreds of utilities has helped prioritize product features that demonstrate real value."

In addition, Landis+Gyr recently validated the real-world scalability of Gridstream MDMS by successfully completing a performance benchmark test. Testing was based on a realistic meter-to-cash scenario that included full validation, estimation and editing (VEE) processing, in addition to generating estimated reads for a simulated read gap of 10 percent of the 1.4 billion total reads.  The test was conducted on an Oracle Exadata X3-2 Half-Rack Machine with 30 million meters and recorded sustained processing of more than 427 million meter reads per hour, while only using 50 percent of CPU capacity.

"In this benchmark, we completed daily processing, including meter-to-cash operations, in just over three hours," said Gary Lutz, Landis+Gyr's Director of Technical Architecture for Gridstream MDM Solutions. "As extremely impressive as these test results are, the true test of scalability comes with deployments in actual customer environments. Gridstream MDMS is proven to consistently handle hundreds of millions of reads per day, well within utility billing windows."
