New Hand-Held Borries Marker Inscribes in Dot-Matrix and Data Matrix Codes

Ann Arbor, Ml - A new "mobile" marking unit, able to be hand held or integrated into a machine by the user, has been introduced by Borries Marking Systems. It is capable of marking in dot-matrix characters (readable by the naked human eye) and data-matrix codes. Providing an expansive marking area of 4.74 in. (120 mm) by 3/4+ in. (20 mm) high, the unit weighs about 7-1/2 lbs. (3.5 kg). By applying changeable devices to the marker, a broad range of part geometries easily can be inscribed.

Named the Borries 313 micro liner, the marker is programmed by a separate controller, which is capable of providing data input via PC, barcode scanner, PLC or even by an integrated key pad.

Because of its light weight, the new marker is expected to be popular in workshops, QA-activity and assembly operations. The wide marking area provides room for marks in one or more lines, making it suitable for metal and aluminum supports, pipes, tubes and the like. Data for marking can be moved from a barcode scanner via RS232, or from a master computer.

In addition, the 313 micro liner can be integrated into production or assembly lines as a built-in marking unit. Furthermore, it can be operated in a workshop environment simply by fixing it to a machine frame.

The new Borries marker measures approximately nine inches (230 mm) wide by 11 in. (280 mm) deep by eight and 7/16 in. (214 mm) high. A separate camera system is required for reading ECC200 data matrix codes. The programming interface can be RS232/USB for a PC-connection input.
