March 7, 2013 - With damping that reduces resonance amplification and mechanical stops for over-range protection, Model 3991A112KG 2000 G, MEMS, piezoresistive shock accelerometer offers survivability to over-range, minimum zero-shift after shock, and bridge resistance. Measurement ranges of 20,000 and 60,000 G are available, and products are designed as drop-in mechanical replacements for legacy sensors' 2-hole screw mounting. Units come standard with 10 Vdc calibration or optional user-defined values.

PCB Piezotronics Releases New MEMS Piezoresistive Shock Accelerometers

2000 G Sensor Features Critical Damping and High Over-Shock Survivability

Depew, NY - PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of microphones, vibration, force, torque, load, strain, and pressure sensors, as well as the pioneer of ICP® technology is pleased to announce their new 2000 G MEMS, Piezoresistive Shock Accelerometer. Model 3991A112KG piezoresistive shock accelerometers represent state of the art industry technology for miniature, high-amplitude shock sensors, capable of measuring long duration transient motion, as well as responding to and surviving extremely fast rise times typical of a high-G shock event. The units feature critical damping to reduce resonance amplification and mechanical stops for over-range protection. These rugged sensors offer superior survivability to over-range, minimum zero-shift after a shock and high bridge resistance with associated lower power consumption compared to legacy sensors on the market.

The sensors are also available in 20,000 and 60,000 G measurement ranges and are designed to be drop-in mechanical replacements for legacy sensors' two-hole screw mounting.  Applications include electronics impact testing, pile drivers, down-hole mineral exploration, drop testing, shot counting for firearms, sport equipment testing and pyro-shock events.

All sensing elements are micro-machined in-house at a PCB® where our vertically integrated manufacturing allows complete control of product quality. Each PCB® sensor is tested to its full over-shock limit prior to calibration and is supplied with a standard 10 VDC calibration or optional user defined values. Packaged and OEM surface mount configurations are offered to fulfill a variety of installation requirements. Recommended signal conditioners include Model 482C27 four-channel and Model 483C28 eight-channel ICP® and DC bridge amplifiers.
