December 7, 2010 - Suited for driving 12-16 bit pipeline ADCs, MAX9626-MAX9628 low-distortion, 1.35 GHz differential amplifiers integrate gain resistors, eliminating need for external feedback resistors. Output common mode of units is set through one of input pins, so coupling transformer or AC-coupling capacitors are not needed, and products can accept negative input signals for interfacing with most ADCs. Available in 3 x 3 mm package, they are specified over -40 to +85°C temperature range.

MAX9626-28: ADC Drivers Boost Bandwidth by Eliminating Parasitics

Maxim announces a family of differential amplifiers that integrate gain resistors to eliminate parasitics and enable higher bandwidths for high-speed pipeline ADCs.

SUNNYVALE, CA - Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9626-MAX9628, low-noise, low-distortion, 1.35GHz differential amplifiers for driving high-speed pipeline ADCs. These devices integrate gain resistors, thereby eliminating the need for external feedback resistors. This reduces parasitics to enable higher bandwidths and improved THD performance while saving space and cost. The MAX9626-MAX9628 are ideal for driving 12- to 16-bit pipeline ADCs in communication, medical imaging, automatic test equipment, and high-performance instrumentation applications.

The output common mode of the MAX9626-MAX9628 is set through one of the input pins (VOCM), thus eliminating the need for a coupling transformer or AC-coupling capacitors. This technology saves board space and improves performance by avoiding the nonidealities found in external components. In addition, the wide output common-mode range and ability to accept negative input signals with single-supply operation allow the parts to interface with the majority of ADCs on the market. This increases design flexibility and reduces time to market.

The MAX9626-MAX9628 are available in a 3mm x 3mm, 12-pin TQFN package and are fully specified over the -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius extended temperature range. Pricing starts at $2.90 (1000-up, FOB USA). Evaluation kits are available upon request.
