'Runner' Introduced by SKF Magnetic Actuators for Medical and Industrial Applications

OLNEY, IL, January 30, 2003 - SKF Magnetic's new compact RUNNER linear actuator is designed to handle extremely heavy loads in medical and industrial applications. This robust, high-performance actuation system runs quietly with minimal vibration, offers long service life, and comes equipped with specialized safety and maintenance features to further optimize operation.

RUNNER linear actuators provide high push- and pullforce with a virtually unprecedented capability to lift loads up to 12kN. Speeds at full load for the RUNNER series of actuators (Models R20, R21, and R22) range from 4.5mm/s to 7.5mm/s and stroke lengths range from 100mm-700mm.

The RUNNER actuation system includes several key safety components, including a first failure safe control unit for the operation of up to three actuators. The control unit can be operated as stand-alone or can be mounted directly on the actuator. In addition, standard RUNNER models include a safety nut, limit switches, and Jack-plug as added safeguards. With a safety factor of 4 for stroke length up to 250mm, RUNNER actuators are ideally suited for use in medical settings.

A cycle counting feature serves to help track intervals for recommended maintenance, which is minimal.

The RUNNER system is also compatible with SKF Magnetic's TELEMAG telescopic lifting columns to raise and lower medical equipment and industrial devices with large offset loads.
