Emuge Introduces New High Performance Tap Line with Japanese Industrial Standard Specification (JIS)

WEST BOYLSTON, MA U.S.A. - Today Emuge Corp., the leader in tapping technology for more than 90 years, has introduced a new line of High Performance JIS Taps for tapping applications at companies manufacturing products with Japanese-specified standards. The new Emuge JIS Line includes a selection of taps and cold-forming taps. Shank diameter and square dimensions are in accordance with Japanese standards, and all Emuge JIS taps are uniquely designed to produce threads with a JIS Class 2 tolerance.

"As part of our continued global expansion, Emuge wants to recognize and offer key standards, such as the unique specifications for Japanese automotive manufacturing. Manufacturers who need to produce threads according to Japanese standards now have another choice for taps," said Mr. Peter Matysiak, President of Emuge Corp. "Further, to provide for manufacturers located in Japan, Emuge has recently opened a branch office in Yokohama City, Japan."

Emuge's expertise and excellence in tapping technology are inherent in their new high quality JIS TapEmuge JIS Taps include a variety of geometries and styles that will produce threads in a broad range of materials from steels, stainless steels, cast and non-ferrous, to titanium and titanium alloys, nickel and nickel-base and cobalt-base alloys. The surface of the taps are treated with titanium carbonitride or titanium nitride coating for a long tool life. For efficient chip evacuation and maximum lubrication, Emuge JIS taps are available with an internal coolant-lubricant supply exiting through the tap or in the flutes.

New Emuge JIS Taps are offered in designs for both short-chipping and long-chipping material and through-or blind-hole applications. Emuge's JIS line also includes a tap ideally suited for producng threads in cast iron, as well as abrasive cast iron with vermicular graphite. JIS Taps are optimized for use on automatic lathes, multi-spindle machines or CNC machines.

JIS Cold forming taps for the chipless production of internal threads in blind- or through-holes are also available. The cold forming taps feature excellent stability, especially with small thread sizes.

Emuge JIS Taps include sizes ranging from M 5 x0.8 to M 12 x 1.75 in metric coarse and from M 10 x 1.25 to M 20 x 1.5 in metric fine, in straight-flute, spiral point, slow- and fast-spiral flute configurations. The taps have advanced coatings to suit material and tapping applications.
