October 5, 2007 - EB Base Station Interface Tester provides software support for formatting reference data according to WiMAX and LTE dual bitmap algorithm. Triggering options of integrated logic analyzer detect dual bitmap algorithm errors in received RP3 data. Device supports simultaneous testing of 2 x RP3 or RP3-01 links at line rates of 768, 1,536, and 3,072 Mbps and can operate in master and slave modes for RP1 synchronization and timing.

Elektrobit (EB) Introduces Wimax and LTE Support in EB Base Station Interface Tester

EB introduces WiMAX and LTE support in EB Base Station Interface Tester, the first commercial test solution providing comprehensive support for verifying OBSAI RP3, RP3-01 and RP1 (timing) interfaces. With the EB Base Station Interface Tester, established wireless chipset, module and system developers, as well as new market entrants, can easily verify the functionality and performance of their designs.

The introduction of software support for formatting reference data according to WiMAX and LTE dual bitmap algorithm eases the usage of EB Base Station Interface Tester for the mentioned applications. Also the triggering options of the integrated logic analyzer are extended with the capability to detect dual bitmap algorithm errors in received RP3 data.

"OBSAI responded to the industry needs and incorporated LTE into its RP3 specifications this summer. We are happy to see EB introduce the support in EB Base Station Interface Tester promptly," says Tero Mustala, Chairman of OBSAI.

EB Base Station Interface Tester supports simultaneous testing of two RP3 or RP3-01 links at line rates 768, 1536 and 3072 Mbps defined by OBSAI. It can operate both in master and slave modes for RP1 synchronization and timing. Received interface data can be captured according to user defined triggering rules and viewed as waveforms in logic analyzer window.

Product benefits

Utilization of EB Base Station Interface Tester enables the development and verification of RF or baseband modules individually without the presence of other base station modules. The applications also include analysis of RP3 and RP3-01 data transmission between modules of running base station, supporting system integration and enabling monitoring and analysis of field operation.

EB Base Station Interface Tester helps to minimize test development efforts and ensures the highest possible design quality in module level, therefore shortening the total time-to-market of the end-product. The advanced features of the tester also include simulation of infrequent error events. The error recovery of the design can thus be tested in a controlled manner in a laboratory environment, improving product reliability in the field.
