Toshiba Introduces Two-Megapixel IP Network Camera for Detail-Sensitive Video Surveillance

-- New IK-WB30A offers six times the pixels as standard VGA cameras --

IRVINE, CA -- Toshiba Surveillance & IP Network Video, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the availability of the new IK-WB30A IP network camera featuring an advanced two-megapixel CMOS sensor.

The latest addition to the company's expanding network-centric line, the IK-WB30A is the highest resolution Toshiba IP camera introduced to date. It is also the first Toshiba camera to offer Electronic Pan-Tilt-Zoom (ePTZ), a new technology that transmits thumbnail images of entire fields of view to allow the camera operator to instantly move to a target region for close-up shots.

"The IK-WB30A is a smart, cost-effective match for today¹s detail-sensitive IP surveillance environments," explained Sergio Collazo, National Sales and Marketing Manager for Toshiba Surveillance & IP Network Video. "It excels at challenging subject recognition, such as capturing legible license plates or distinguishing facial features, that are routinely missed by standard IP cameras."

Exceptional image quality is a given with the IK-WB30A. Its 1600 x 1200 resolution delivers six times the number of pixels of a VGA (640 x 480) camera, making it possible to replace two or more VGA cameras with a single IK-WB30A to save on equipment costs and bandwidth usage. True Day-Night imaging empowers the IK-WB30A to act as an high-resolution color camera during daylight hours and switch over to an IR night vision camera when the sun goes down. Power over Ethernet (PoE) further enhances the camera's cost efficiency because it allows the IK-WB30A to receive both data and power over a single Ethernet cable.

The IK-WB30A streams both MPEG-4 and MJPEG video simultaneously at up 30 fps. Each stream can be configured with individual resolution, quality, and frame rate settings to conserve bandwidth. Efficient MPEG-4 compression facilitates smooth video streaming with minimal network load for live viewing of video by up to 10 clients, while MJPEG compression provides excellent video quality for recording to an NVR. In addition, the IK-WB30A features a built-in slot for SD cards to record directly at the camera. It also supports two-way audio to let users both listen and communicate with the camera's remote position.
