Hi-Rel Connectors offer over-molding for harsh environments.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for military applications, Small-Scale High Reliability Connectors are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, shock and vibration, corrosion, and submersion up to 3,500 psi. Small-scale molds have endoskeleton pre-mold which serves as durable encapsulate for inner conductors. In addition to multi-flex strain relief, over-mold has unique design that optimizes grip when mating to connector. Wall thickness of 0.100" serves as protective barrier rather than just aesthetic cover.

Original Press Release:

Over-Molding Small-Scale Hi-Rel Connectors for Harsh Environments

In the world of military applications having equipment which is multifunctional, rugged, light weight and dependable is essential. In the realm of connectors there is an abundant source of configurations and applications. Small-scale high reliability connectors are geared toward weight, size, durability and functionality. These type of connectors have been designed for some of the harshest environmental requirements including but not limited to:

Extreme Temperatures

Environmental Factors

Vibration & Shock

Fungus

Submersion up to 3500 PSI

Corrosion

To add further value to these robust connectors, ISC has developed new over-molding options. ISC’s line of small-scale molds have an endoskeleton pre-mold which serves as a durable encapsulate for the inner conductors. This new mold design incorporates functionality and is designed to be durable enough to withstand harsh environments. To maximize functionality the over-mold integrates a multi-flex strain relief and also integrates a unique design to enhance grip when mating to a connector. To enhance durability the wall thickness of the over-mold was increased to 0.100’ to serve as a protective barrier rather than just an aesthetic cover. Typical over-molds are recommended to have a 0.080’ or greater wall thickness, but due to the rugged applications in mind ISC has increased the standard wall thickness.
