Approval ratings are for temperature ranges up to 302 deg F for process temperature maintenance and 420 deg F for maximum continuous exposure. SRM/E cable has been rated for high-pressure steam cleaning applications up to 300 psi.

Chromalox(R) Heat Trace Cables Receive Upgraded Temperature Ratings For Hazardous Duty Applications
PITTSBURGH. April 26. 2002 - Chromalox, a leading supplier of industrial heating solutions, announces that it has received approval from Factory Mutual (FM) for upgraded temperature ratings on its HSRM and SRM/E heat trace cables. These medium-temperature, hazardous-duty cables meet Factory Mutual requirements for use in Class I - Division 1, Class II - Division 1, and Class III environments. The new approval ratings are for increased temperature ranges, up to 302 degrees F (150C) for process temperature maintenance and 420 degrees F (215C) for maximum continuous exposure. Additionally, the SRM/E cable has been rated for high-pressure steam cleaning applications up to 300 PSIG. Chromalox is the only supplier of medium temperature self-regulating heat trace cable that allows continuous 420 degrees F (215C) maximum continuous exposure.
Chromalox' HSRM and SRM/E self-regulating heating cables provide safe, reliable heat tracing for process temperature maintenance, viscosity/fluid flow management, and freeze protection of pipes, valves and tanks. The HSRM cable is constructed of industrial grade 14 AWG buss wire with a metal braid and a fluoropolymer overjacket. The SRM/E cable is constructed of industrial grade 14 AWG buss wire with a metal braid and optional fluoropolymer overjacket.
Chromalox heat trace cables utilize a special semiconductive polymer core matrix bonded to the conductors, which provides self-regulation and minimizes the risk of an over-temperature condition. This also increases the cables' power efficiency because the core's electrical resistance varies inversely with temperature, consuming less power when less heat is required. The outer fluoropolymer jacket is flame retardant, resists most chemically active corrosives, and protects against abrasion and impact damage. These cables can be cut to length in the field and single overlapped with no burnout. Circuit lengths up to 780 feet are possible.
Chromalox also provides free ChromaTRACE(TM) Design Software and an Electrical Heat Tracing Systems Design Guide to help users design and specify heat trace systems. The ChromaTRACE software uses "What if" analysis to quickly configure the most cost-effective solution.
