Packnet Ltd. Introduces the ShockWatch DropSpot, a New Heavy Impact Handling Indicator

New-to-market handling indicator aims to save companies costs in reduced warranty claims and identify supply chain trouble spots

EAGAN, Minn. - Packnet Ltd., a manufacturer of custom packaging solutions and wood packaging, announces a new handling indicator product offering, the ShockWatch DropSpot (http://www.packnetltd.com/dropspot.html), designed to provide indisputable evidence of mishandling during transportation and shipping for customers shipping larger, heavier crates or containers.

"These new handling indicators will ensure that customers can reduce product damage and loss incurred during the transportation and storage phases and will ultimately help in identifying and improving trouble spots in the supply chain. These indicators will also confirm the effectiveness of the packaging which translates into evidence of what we already know and that's our packaging is the best in the industry and production yield losses are generally from mishandling," said Packnet General Manager Dan Schultze. "Given the tough economic climate, businesses cannot afford damaged shipments and warranty claims. This new handling indicator is a minor investment that will yield higher returns and cost savings for customers by alerting the consignee to inspect the contents of the shipment before acceptance."

The new ShockWatch DropSpot (http://www.packnetltd.com/dropspot.html) is unique in that it is not activated until the adhesive backing is removed and the indicator is then applied to the product or shipping container. These sensors can easily be shipped worldwide to customers without accidental activation of the sensor which has sometimes been a problem in the past. Each sensor has a unique serial number so it may be documented on the bill of lading for tracking as well. These indicators are targeted for larger, heavier packages and crates and typically cost less than $3 each. Three different G-level sensitivity options are available.

Targeted products that will benefit from the impact indicators are: automotive components, semiconductor devices, computer hard drives, lab equipment, glass products, electronics, storage media, and many others.
