With sleeve shrinking time of 40 sec, Model GAO-730 Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer can splice dispersion shifted, non-zero dispersion shifted, and erbium doped fibers. It automatically adjusts to environmental conditions by using temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors to provide constant feedback control to regulate fusion arc temperature. Toronto, ON - GAO Tek Inc. has added the GAO-730 Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer to its product line of fiber optic equipment. It boasts an 8-second fusion splice time, which is among the fastest times in the world for this type of product. The Sleeve Shrinking time is also an impressive 40 seconds.
According to ElectroniCast Consultants, (as reported in Lightwave Magazine) the world consumption of fiber optic fusion splicers for last year was $308 million and is projected to increase to $440 million by 2013.

Mechanical splices typically have 0.1 up to 0.3dB loss.
