Casella Introduces World's Smallest Noise Real-Time Frequency Analyzer

Pocket-sized meter lets environmental and occupational health professionals take fast, accurate noise measurements

AMHERST, NH, -- Casella USA, the North American subsidiary of UK-based Casella Measurement, Casella CEL, has introduced the world's smallest 1/3rd octave-band noise analyzer, the new CEL-621.

The CEL-621 is the latest addition to the Casella CEL-600 Series of digital sound level meters and the first to incorporate statistical (Ln%) values to perform short-term, environmental noise assessments. From simple baseline surveys to full 1/3rd octave band analysis, all measurements are performed quickly and easily through a simple, intuitive menu driven system. The high resolution display assists the user by presenting results in a simple color-coded format that minimizes the risk of misinterpreting data collected in the field. On-board memory and simple USB download allow data to be included in reports, once back in the office without any special software.

Delivering a standard of performance never seen in such a compact design, the CEL-621 uses all-digital technology that can measure in just one span up to 140dB, eliminating the need for range adjustment and any resulting errors. Digital technology also means that measurements are inherently stable and repeatable unlike older generations of analog instruments still on the market. Further setting the CEL-621 apart is its ability to measure all broadband and octave measurement parameters simultaneously so the user doesn't have to worry if the instrument has been set up properly - all parameters may be chosen retrospectively.

"The CEL-621 is truly pocket sized, yet is feature-rich with technology designed to make life easier for the environmental or occupational health professional," said Bob Selwyn, National Sales and Marketing Manager, Casella USA. "Plus, the CEL-621 is future-proofed by being fully upgradeable without the need to even return the instrument to the factory. New features can be added as they become available or as budgets allow."

The CEL-621 is supplied as a kit in a rugged briefcase, which also includes an acoustic calibrator, windshield, software and USB download cable. Both instrument and calibrators come with calibration certificates as standard, documenting compliance with the latest IEC 61672 Sound Level Meter standard.

ABOUT CASELLA CEL

CEL Instruments have been manufacturing high quality instrumentation for the measurement of noise and vibration since the early 1970's. Originally formed from the company Computer Engineering Limited, a British company specializing in the design and manufacture of computer related equipment, CEL rapidly became well known for designing state of the art noise products in the UK. In 1998, Casella acquired CEL Instruments, manufacturers of innovative noise monitoring equipment. The natural synergy formed from this integration allows the combined new company, Casella CEL, to offer a broader and more comprehensive product range to both the occupational and environmental market sectors. Casella Measurement products are exported worldwide through an extensive network of distributors and agents. With measurement division offices in North America (in New Hampshire), in Spain (in Madrid), and recently in China (in Beijing) and with further expansion planned, this confirms Casella Measurement as a truly international organization.
