Viking Expands Fire Suppression Line to Include Clean Agent Systems

Hastings, MI, USA - With the introduction of its new VK-1230 clean agent system, Viking Corporation has extended its leading portfolio of innovative fire protection systems to include waterless suppression technology. The VK-1230 system, which is cULus Listed and FM Approved, is designed to protect even the most sensitive environments, including hospitals, server rooms, data centers, security command areas, telecommunications equipment, museums, libraries, and other properties where the potential for water damage is a concern. Using 3M® Corporation's revolutionary Novec(TM) 1230 extinguishing agent, the VK-1230 system from Viking provides effective, highly specialized protection while leaving valuable electronics and other critical assets unaffected.

When early warning detection systems are employed, such as the HELIOS aspirating smoke detector from Minimax, the VK-1230 clean agent system can provide very early suppression of a fire in its pre-combustion stage. After discharge, the Novec 1230 extinguishing agent will not damage electronics and leaves behind no residue, which dramatically reduces clean-up and minimizes downtime of critical IT infrastructure. Novec 1230 also has a higher safety margin compared to other extinguishing agents, making it safer for people working in the protected area. Furthermore, with its low toxicity, zero ozone depletion potential, short atmospheric lifetime, and minimal global warming potential, Novec 1230 is safe for the environment and a long-term, sustainable alternative to Halons.

The new VK-1230 clean agent systems, which are suitable for class A, B, and C fires, are uniquely designed to match the specific needs of each application, delivering a precisely calculated concentration of clean agent gas to the protected area. Each system is designed with considerations for the type of detection, control panel, tank arrangement, actuation, distribution piping, discharge nozzles, notification devices, and other components. Viking's technical services team will provide system layouts to installing contractors including detailed assistance with project quotations, clean agent calculations, and technical support. Viking also supplies the initial filling of tanks at its Listed clean agent filling center in Hastings, Michigan. The new VK-1230 systems, like all products and systems from Viking, are supported by Viking SupplyNet's network of 32 service centers in North America and over 50 worldwide.

Viking is a global leader in the manufacture and distribution of innovative fire protection and life safety systems.
