Epoxy Primer Provides Cure for Green Concrete

As water vapor escapes from green concrete, it can weaken the concrete and prevent top coats from bonding to the surface. Rhino Hide's Prime-A-Seal IV 4350(TM) is a two-component, water-based epoxy primer that cures, seals and primes concrete in one easy application. It eliminates the costly step of mechanically preparing a new concrete surface prior to coating.

Prime-A-Seal IV maintains a freshly poured slab's water content throughout the curing process, allowing concrete to reach full strength. By promoting hydration, the primer minimizes shrinkage cracking as concrete dries. This product exceeds ASTM C156-98 standards for water retention.

In addition to curing concrete as effectively as flooding or mist spraying, Prime-A-Seal IV works as a chemical-resistant sealer to protect the surface against water, oil, salts and other contaminants that can cause adherence problems with top coats. A primed surface is ready to bond with epoxies, urethanes, acrylics and polyaspartics the same day-or up to 30 days later. Its durable matte finish acts as an attractive stand-alone finish sealer.

Rhino Hide's Prime-A-Seal IV can be applied as soon as the poured surface supports foot traffic. The clear primer has a pot life up to 75 minutes and dries in 5 hours. For concrete more than seven days old, Rhino Hide offers Prime-A-Seal III. A gallon of Prime-A-Seal IV retails for $65. For larger quantities, bulk pricing is available.
