November 11, 2011 - Designed to meet stringent North American and European approvals, RSS36 Series is suited for highest level of machine safety circuits, PLe per ISO13849-1 and SIL3 per IEC61508. RFID technology may be used in combination with Pulse-Echo technology in series circuit up to 31 devices while maintaining desired safety level. Providing holding force of 5 lb, magnetic latch option can serve as door stop. Diagnostic LEDs indicate errors, mis-alignment, and door open/closed signaling.

Schmersal Advanced RFID Safety Sensor


Tarrytown NY, - Schmersal is pleased to announce the extension of their family of non-contact electronic safety sensors. The RSS36 sensors meet stringent North American and European approvals, are CE and cUL approved, and can be used in the highest level of machine safety circuits, PLe per ISO13849-1 and SIL3 per IEC61508.

The RSS36 sensor uses enhanced RFID technology, which can be used in combination
with the patented Pulse-Echo technology from Schmersal in a series circuit up to 31
devices while maintaining the desired safety level. The RSS36 can be connected to a
number of standard safety controllers offered by Schmersal.

The RSS36 also offers a magnetic latch option which provides a holding force of 5 lbs
and can be used as a door stop. Like the Pulse Echo technology, the RSS36 comes
standard with diagnostic LED's on the sensor to indicate various errors, mis-alignment
and door open/closed signaling. For more advanced indication the RSS36 is also
available with serial diagnostics.
