Shear Quality Distinguishes Porter-Cable from The Competition; High-Powered Shears Offer Enhanced Features
JUNE 20, 2002 - NEW YORK CITY, NY - Porter-Cable Corporation announced today the introduction of two improved electric shears - model 6603 steel shear and model 6605 fiber cement shear. According to Product Manager Todd Craft, the new shears are another example of Porter-Cable's on-going commitment to long-lasting quality and service to its users. "We've incorporated practical feedback from professionals to improve our existing shear lineup," Craft explained. "The model 6603 and 6605 shears are upgraded versions that maintain the same reliability while adding features like more power, multi-position belt clips, and ergonomic, multi-position grip handles."
The model 6603 18-guage steel shear and 6605 fiber cement shear are more powerful versions of previous Porter-Cable shears. Their durable cast aluminum gear housing and magnesium bearing plate provide long-lasting strength, and they tout a powerful double-insulated 6.8 Amp, 0-2,500 stroke-per-minute motor. Porter-Cable engineers added an improved cutting head to the model 6605 fiber cement shear that delivers four times the life of its predecessor. Both new models utilize a 360-degree rotating head design that can position the shear's head in any direction for smooth cuts at tough angles. They also feature a multi-position belt clip and an ergonomic multi-position grip handle.
The model 6603 shear has 18-gauge steel and 20-gauge stainless steel cut capacities, with the ability to make a 7/32" cut with no bending or burring. Available in mid-June, the model 6603 is expected to sell for approximately $160.
Designed to make fast, smooth cuts with fiber cement siding up to 5/16" thick, the model 6605 will be available in mid-June and expects to sell for approximately $230.
