New Refractometer Interface Operates Refractometer from Computer in Real-Time

(CLEVELAND, OH - April 2, 2007) MISCO announces AMAX Remote, a computer application that allows for real-time bidirectional control of MISCO's Abbe Max line of digital laboratory refractometers from any Microsoft Windows computer. Besides providing for complete mirroring and control of the Abbe Max Refractometer, AMAX Remote adds additional functionality never before available on a refractometer.

The Abbe Max Digital Laboratory Refractometers are the only bench-top laboratory refractometers in the world with an onboard Microsoft Windows graphical user-interface. Users familiar with Windows find this interface both straightforward and intuitive. With AMAX Remote, these capabilities are extended onto the Windows Desktop.

"For the first time, refractometer users will experience unprecedented flexibility and control," says Michael Caminer, MISCO Director of Marketing.

By simply connecting an Abbe Max Laboratory Refractometer to a computer running AMAX Remote, via a USB cable, an exact image of the Abbe Max screen will be mirrored on the Windows Desktop. Actions taken on either the computer or the Abbe Max Refractometer touch-screen are instantly reflected on the other device in real-time.

This bi-directional interface allows the user to remotely select or change refractometer options from the computer, enter data, manage and review access privileges, view measurements, or perform calibrations, just as if they were doing so on the refractometer screen. Because the interface is identical, there is nothing new to learn.

AMAX Remote adds functionality to the Abbe Max by allowing the user to backup and restore refractometer settings, save or print screen images for training or documentation, and even open the refractometers extensive reading and calibration history files directly in Microsoft Excel.

A world leader in the refractometer field, MISCO is headquartered in Cleveland, OH, home to the company for nearly 60 years.
