Workrite Launches DuPont Protera FR Clothing Line

New patented fabric combines lightweight comfort with inherent flame-resistance

Oxnard, CA - Workrite Uniform, a leading manufacturer and provider of flame-resistant apparel, announced the launch of its FR clothing line made from DuPont(TM) Protera(TM), a new family of inherent flame-resistant fabrics specifically engineered to protect against electric arc hazards and meet NFPA 70E Category 2 requirements.

Blending Kevlar, Nomex and Modacrylic fibers, Workrite garments made from DuPont Protera provide an arc rating of 8.5 and higher in a lightweight, single layer. The fabric is designed to maintain strength, flame-resistance and appearance even after 100 industrial launderings, according to DuPont. Protera is available in two fabric weights, 6.5 and 8 oz, and three colors, medium blue, navy blue and khaki.

As a preferred provider for DuPont, Workrite Uniform supported wear trials during DuPont Protera's development, providing ongoing customer insights. Workrite's DuPont Protera line includes two button-front work shirts in 6.5 oz, medium blue and khaki, and a work pant in 8 oz, navy blue. DuPont Protera garments will only be available through preferred providers such as Workrite.

"Workrite has always been committed to be first in testing and launching new FR fabrics. This gives our customers the widest possible choices for their FR needs," said Mark Saner, Technical Manager, Workrite Uniform. "Our DuPont Protera line is the latest example of that commitment. It provides excellent comfort at HRC level 2. This is increasingly important as more companies implement NFPA 70E, and utilities apply changes in their arc flash protection work practices. In both these applications, we feel that our DuPont Protera garments will be well-received."
