Dometic Introduces 25-Ton Modular Chiller Unit for Large Pleasure Yachts and Work Boats

Flexible Modular Design Provides Space and Cost Savings, Multiple Units Can Be Staged for Larger Vessels

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - November 30, 2006 - For 2007, Dometic Environmental Corporation is introducing a new 25-ton modular chiller unit for circulated-water air conditioning systems on megayachts and workboats. The chiller is being marketed under Dometic's Marine Air brand.

The MTS25-2 is unitized chiller module that includes a hermetic scroll compressor and shell-and-tube marine-grade cupronickel condenser, along with other mechanical and electrical components, on a single chassis. Multiple modules can be staged as needed to meet the HVAC requirements for very large vessels. The space-saving design facilitates installation in tight spaces.

The 25-ton chiller unit is designed for easy front access to condenser tubes, heater rods, flow switch, compressor and replaceable drier cores for repair and maintenance.

"This new design, with its shell-and-tube heat exchanger instead of multiple condenser coil windings, provides an attractive alternative to large space-consuming rack-mounted arrays of four or five smaller-capacity chillers," said Charlie Barefoot, vice president of engineering for Dometic Environmental Corporation. "This translates into lower installation costs and less space requirements in the machinery space."

Marine Air has been an established leader in large HVAC systems for large pleasure yachts and workboats with over 30 years of experience. All Marine Air products have been designed specifically for the rigors of the marine environment with extra protections against corrosion and vibration. The products are thoroughly engineered and quality tested, and are backed by the industry's most extensive network of factory-trained service technicians.
