Steadicam® Introduces the Scout for Video and Film Production

Hauppauge, NY, - The Tiffen Company, a Long Island-based leading manufacturer and distributor of award winning accessories for the still imaging, motion picture and broadcast markets, introduced the new Steadicam SCOUT. The SCOUT is based on the same award-winning Steadicam technology, but with a new design offering many new features and benefits.

The Steadicam Scout incorporates the same revolutionary Steadicam features that won the coveted DV Professional Association's "Best of Show" at NAB. "Style, functionality, flexibility and affordability" all wrapped within the new Steadicam Scout. A combination of innovative features derived from our popular PILOT(TM), FLYER(TM), ZEPHYR(TM) and ARCHER2 Steadicam systems now allows it to "excel in the range of operating possibilities," said Frank Rush, VP, General Manager of Steadicam.
A new innovative approach to camera stabilizer design, the Steadicam Scout has uncompromising quality and all the necessary features to get the job done at an affordable price. The Scout with a 5lb-18lb (2.3 - 8kg) camera payload capacity incorporates a soft case with pouch for trolley and will sell for $6995.00.

The Scout features a newly designed sled assembly (camera mounting platform) that has a robust carbon fiber no-tools extendable post. A safety system inside the post protects the post from separating. The index system keeps all parts in alignment. A proprietary friction-free gimbal assembly with large knurled extended handle fits securely in the operator's hand. Precision stage adjustment assures exacting balance of the camera to the rig. The sled will work with 12 volt cameras.

The Scout vest is a continuation of the comfortable Flyer(TM) vest. An ergonomic fit of the breast plate combined with solid metal shoulder fasteners assure a new comfort level for extended use and a secure fit. New vest and pad covers are easily removed for cleaning or replacement offering extended durability.

The new tools-free patented Iso-Elastic(TM) stabilizer arm supports 18 pounds (8kg) of camera weight. The no-tools Arm/Vest interface allows for quick customization to the individual operator. "On the fly" weight adjustment frees the operator from dismounting the system to make changes. The open design of the arm has freedom of movement unknown in this weight class and the Scout's adjustable and interchangeable arm post assembly is a feature usually found on more expensive systems. The 2-section arm can also be separated for compact storage and transport.

The new 7" Scout Steadicam color LCD monitor features enhanced image quality and a wide viewing angle. Even under bright sunlight this monitor is ideal for field production use.

The Scout light weight aluminum dovetail stage was designed for camera mounting stability.

Steadicam Scout - Explore the Possibilities.
