June 20, 2008 - Designed to span long lengths without intermediate support, BKK and BKR Bridge Modules consist of extruded aluminum profile whose geometry has been optimized for high torsional stiffness. Two internal ball rail systems with 4 steel runner blocks are mounted inside extrusion at 90° angle to each other, maximizing load and moment capacity. Belt-driven BKR module comes in lengths up to 8,000 mm, while ball screw-driven BKK module is available up to 5,500 mm long.

Bridge Modules Provide High Stiffness for Unsupported Axes

Bridge Modules from Rexroth

Bridge Modules span long unsupported lengths; ideal as the Y-axis in gantry systems, replacing the typical configuration of two linear modules in parallel.

(Charlotte, NC - www.boschrexroth-us.com) Rexroth has expanded its extensive range of linear modules with the new BKK and BKR Bridge Modules designed to span long lengths without intermediate support.

The Bridge Modules consist of an extruded aluminum profile whose geometry has been optimized for extremely high torsional stiffness, reducing deflection in applications where the module is not fully supported, such as Y axes for gantry systems.

Two internal ball rail systems with four steel runner blocks are mounted inside the extrusion, at a 90-degree angle to each other, maximizing load and moment capacity.

The Bridge Modules also have an angled carriage with T-slots for flexible and secure mounting of the user's load. Rexroth's camoLINE connectivity allows for precise connection and alignment of additional axes. In addition, the Bridge Modules are fully enclosed with an aluminum cover and polyurethane sealing strips, protecting internal components from environmental contamination.

Rexroth's BKR belt-driven Bridge Module is available in lengths up to 8,000 mm and provides faster speeds, while the BKK ball screw driven version is ideal for higher thrust forces and lengths up to 5,500mm. The BKK model is also available with ball screw supports to maintain high speed at longer lengths.

Standard angle brackets simplify mounting the bridge modules to Rexroth's other linear motion systems, such as MKR, MKK, CKR, and CKK Modules. In-line motor mounts and timing belt side drives provide simple mounting of the customer's motor.

Rexroth also provides complete electromechanical solutions consisting of single- or multi-axis linear modules with motor, drive, control, and cable management.

Bosch Rexroth AG, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately $7.4 billion (5.4 billion Euros) in 2007 with nearly 33,000 employees. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company offers all drive and control technologies, from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics to electronics and associated service. Over 500,000 customers worldwide utilize Rexroth's unique technological know-how to implement their innovative and future-oriented systems and machine concepts. The global player, represented in over 80 countries, is an extensive supplier of components and systems for industrial and factory automation and mobile applications.
