June 19, 2008 - With fully programmable operation and automatic serial numbering capability, Handy Andy system can carry out dot-peen marking on OD of round parts from PC. Third axis features 3.14 in. Rohm chuck, and ID/OD claws are included for versatile part fixturing. Three-axis stepper motor system connects to PC via USB interface and controls dot peen marking stylus, which is available in electric or pneumatic versions with respective marking capacities of .004 and .002 in. in standard steel.

Dot-Peen Marking on the OD of round parts from a PC

The fully programmable Handy Andy marking system can now mark on the OD of round parts. The 3rd axis upgrade features a 3.14" Rohm chuck. ID and OD claws are included to offer versatile part fixturing. This dot-peen marking system can automatically apply serial numbering, date codes, job numbers, lot numbers, and even company logos. The PC software works with Windows® 95/98/2000/Vista/NT4/XP/Vista and is easy to understand and operate. Simple pull-down menus, icons, hot keys, text orientation control and point and click features minimize training time.

Three-axis stepper motor system is connected to the PC by a USB interface connection controls the dot peen marking stylus. The system is available with either an electric or pneumatic marking stylus. The pneumatic dot peen is capable of marking .004" in standard steel. The electric dot peen is capable of marking .002" in standard steel. The new electric stylus is a good solution for marking thin-walled, fragile parts. The 3rd axis rotator and chuck mount to a 12 x 15-inch billet aluminum T-slot table with a vertical height-adjustable post that mounts the marking unit. Vertical height adjustment is up to 12 5/16-inches. The Pneumatic Handy Andy marking unit, software, rotator, and stand can be purchased for $6,490.
