August 1, 2006 - Able to achieve isotropic surface patterns, VC and VC8 Series produce consistent finishes. Deburring or finishing is made possible by 4 barrels spaced evenly on heavy-duty turret. All manual and automatic models in VC series, available in standard or figure 8 design, can be customized with variable speed, separation, removable hot pour linings, and compartmentalized barrels. VCA series only offers automation capabilities.

VC & VC8 Series Centrifugal Barrel Outperforms Rotary and Vibratory Finishing Machines

(Huntingdon Valley, PA) Finishing Associates, Inc., now FA Sinto, introduces the new high energy VC and VC8 Series Centrifugal Barrel Finishing Machine. Designed to complete finishing cycles up to 30 times faster than rotary barrels and 15-25 times faster than vibratory, this state-of-the-art machine produces consistent finishes, is easily installed and offers very quiet operation with low maintenance.

One of the greatest benefits for many applications is the capability for isotropic surface patterns to be achieved. With proper media selection the technology can also impart compressive stresses to many surfaces improving the performance of that part significantly.

"This is a high energy, high performance finishing machine," comments Mark Cantwell, President, FA Sinto, noting that it readily outperforms both rotary barrel and vibratory finishing systems. "The advantage of the new geared drive is a quieter operation as well as low maintenance."

Deburring is a critical step in the manufacturing process. The VC and VC8 Series machines are equipped with four barrels spaced evenly on a heavy duty turret. As the turret is rotated in one direction, the barrels rotate to the opposite direction effecting a 1:1 ratio. When the turret speed exceeds 60 RPM, the mass in the barrel is subjected to high compressive forces causing the work mass to slide to the furthest wall of the barrel and quickly producing a high polish or aggressive metal removal based on media selection.

All models in the VC series are available in standard or figure 8 design and can be customized with variable speed for infinite process control, separation, removable "hot pour" linings, and compartmentalized barrels. Manual and automatic operation are available. The VCA series comes with automation.
