April 7, 2006 - Functioning as redundant braking or load holding mechanism, ball screw/stage brake is high-torque, spring-engaged, air-released brake acting on non-driven end of ball screw. It serves as safety brake in event of mechanical defect in driveline, particularly in Z-axis applications. Featuring bi-directional braking, it operates in both vertical and horizontal applications. Brake allows thermal expansion of ball screw and meets IP67 dust- and waterproof standards.

Nexen Launches Ball Screw Brakes

Vadnais Heights, Minn. - (March 27, 2006) Nexen Group, Inc., is proud to announce the Ball Screw Brake. Functioning as a redundant braking or load holding mechanism, the ball screw brake provides accuracy and safety. The ball screw/stage brake is a high-torque, spring-engaged, air-released brake acting on the non-driven end of a ball screw. It serves as a redundant safety brake in the event of a mechanical defect in the driveline, particularly in Z-axis applications. This zero backlash brake and coupling provide a high degree of accuracy for holding the position of precision ball screws in power-off situations. A clamp ring coupling connects the brake shaft to the end of the ball screw.

Key features and benefits of Nexen's Ball Screw Brake include:
o Zero backlash for precision holding
o Spring engaged, air released
o High torsional rigidity
o Bi-directional Braking
o Fast engagement
o Meets IP67 dust and waterproof standards
o Operates in both vertical and horizontal applications
o Allows thermal expansion of ball screw
