BackupAgent Unveils Hyper-V Backup and Recovery Plugin
Cloud backup leader offers MSPs and businesses a disaster recovery for virtual environments
Amsterdam–Cloud backup provider BackupAgent announces the release of a Hyper-V plugin, which brings enterprise-class visualization backup and recovery capabilities to the MSP andSME/SMB market.
BackupAgent followed the Microsoft best practices for backing up and restoring Hyper-V.The plugin allows for a native integration with any Hyper-V deployment. Once an entire virtual machine (VM) is backed up, the MSP or business can restore the latest or previous backup and snapshots of a virtual machine ofone ormore virtual hard disks. Recovery can take place of a corrupted VM or virtual hard disk (VHD) on a running or alternative host.
The BackupAgent Hyper-V plugin offers business a full disaster recovery scenario.The Recovery Time Objective (RTO) can be optimized by restoring the data in an alternative host, which is in the same cloud as where the backup is stored. Secondly, the plugin offers MSPs the ability to create a disaster recovery for their virtualized infrastructure in their datacenter to a secondary datacenter or a public cloud.
BackupAgent offers “hot backup” technology, ensuring that programs on VMs are not damaged by taking frequent snapshots of live databases. BackupAgent provides a backup experience across all platforms, ranging from PC, Mac and Linux devices, and with plugins for “hot backups” of Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, System State, MySQL and now Hyper-V is added to the feature list.

BackupAgent also announces the support of Hyper-V Clusters in the next software release, scheduled for September 2013. This extended plugin allows for backup and recovery of all VMs in a cluster via one of the hosts.
