New KardexRemstar Automated Drawer Carousel can Store More Parts in Less Space at a Lower Cost than Standard Drawer Cabinets
The new KardexRemstar automated drawer carousel can provide more storage locations in less floor space for up to 20% less cost when compared to standard drawer cabinets in warehousing applications. The automated drawer carousel will be on display during IMTS 2010 in Chicago September 13-18 in KardexRemstar booth #1617W.
By increasing part density, the automated drawer carousel can replace 25 or more standard drawer cabinets at a lower cost by providing more storage locations. With 60 additional cell locations per bin, the carousel can provide up to 5% more storage locations compared to standard drawer cabinets.
The KardexRemstar automated drawer carousel consists of an oval track with rotating bins (or sections of shelving) containing shelves and totes that automatically deliver stored items to the operator. Similar to standard drawer systems, totes slide in and out of the shelving allowing operators quick and easy access to parts. The automated drawer carousel delivers the required part to the operator; increasing productivity 2/3 by eliminating otherwise wasted time searching through drawer cabinets.
By eliminating aisle space, the automated drawer carousel requires about half of the floor space than drawer cabinets allowing organizations to expand operations such as manufacturing without building expansion costs.
Organizations often add additional shelving to the top of standard drawer cabinets for bulk storage requiring step ladders or overhead reaching and lifting to retrieve. The automated drawer carousel can be configured to store bulk items at any height for easy and safe retrieval.
The automated drawer carousel comes standard with FastPic5 Inventory Optimizer (IO) software allowing the operator to retrieve a part with a simple click of the mouse. Instead of using a row-cabinet-drawer location to search through drawer cabinets for a part, the software displays a bin-shelf-cell location and the operator picks from the active bin. FastPic5 IO also provides organizations basic inventory management functions including inventory tracking, location management and transaction reports detailing who picked what and when.
