Intuitive DIAMONDShield(TM) Solution Advances Mission Planning and Execution

WASHINGTON -- In response to the increasingly complex national and multi-national requirements for Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has developed a solution that delivers new levels of performance to address evolving threats. By linking weapon and sensor data with advanced map-based Command and Control (C2) capabilities, the DIAMONDShield((TM)) C2 platform provides operators a wide range of intuitive decision-support aids that allows them to plan and execute air defense missions with greater speed, higher confidence and reduced ownership costs.

"DIAMONDShield offers an unprecedented integrated capability that enables commanders and their air operations center staffs to rapidly analyze multiple sources of information, enabling them to make swift, efficient decisions regarding the deployment of combat air forces," said Bruce Wright, LtGen, USAF (Retired), vice president, C4ISR, Lockheed Martin Government Relations and former commander US Forces Japan and 5th Air Force.

The DIAMONDShield solution is unique, as it delivers a state-of-the-art solution that responds to the growing range of weapons capable of delivering threats by land, surface, air and space. The system hosts a suite of Integrated Air and Missile Defense capabilities that enables warfighters to manage a continuous C2 cycle, operating at the speed of the battlespace. Visualization is presented in a set of user-optimized graphical displays with selectable features in 2D, 3D, and 4D. At the core of the product, is a modern service oriented architecture, enabling sensors-to-shooter integration and interoperability with the widest range of tactical communications, sensors, weapons and existing legacy systems.

"DIAMONDShield transforms operational command and control of air and missile defense assets into a collaboration and optimization of assets," said Cliff Spier, vice president of C2 Solutions for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions-Defense. "We have brought everything together to provide users with an integrated view of a complex battlespace."

In developing DIAMONDShield, Lockheed Martin leveraged years of expertise gained through the development of systems such as the Command, Control, Battle Management & Communications (C2BMC) system, which integrates multiple ballistic missile defensive weapons systems, and the Integrated Space Command & Control (ISC2) system that fuses data from several U.S. Air Force air, missile and space C2 systems.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs about 120,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation's net sales for 2011 were $46.5 billion.
