May 30, 2008 - Equipped with hydraulic part holding and tailstock, MAX-TEK STC-400 enables machining of difficult interrupted cut components, such as centrifugal pump and compressor impellers up to 25 in. dia. Machine features 50 hp main spindle with speeds up to 12,000 rpm. Utilizing grinding wheels up to 20 in. dia, MAX-TEK STC-400 provides X-axis travel of 13.9 in. and Z-axis travel of 20 in. Linear positioning is ±.0001 in./12 in. and linear repeatability is ±.00005 in.

Abrasive Grinding Center Optimizes Interrupted Cuts


Milldale, CT - April 15, 2008 -- MAX-TEK®, LLC has introduced the MAX-TEK STC-400 Superabrasive Turning Center, featuring hydraulic part holding and tailstock for the machining of difficult interrupted cut components, such as centrifugal pump and compressor impellers up to 25" in diameter. The machine's high-tensile-strength Meehanite base provides superior rigidity and vibration damping needed for accurate, high speed abrasive machining. Ergonomic design assures that the grinding wheel is easily accessible enabling safe, simple wheel changes. The linear guide ways have no contact with grinding swarf, which drops to the bottom of the machine for transfer to the sump.

Specifications include:
o Max. Swing: 25.0"
o X-Axis Travel: 13.9"
o Z-Axis Travel: 20"
o Work Spindle Nose: A2-8
o Power Chucking System: Hydraulic or Pneumatic
o Automatic Slideways Lubrication System
o Main Spindle Power: 50HP
o Main Spindle Speed: Up to 12,000 RPM
o Grinding Wheels: Up to 20.0" Diameter

The work spindle features a 11 HP motor and up to 3,500 RPM and is capable of heavy material removal as well as superfine finishing operations. Linear positioning is +/- .0001"/12 inches and linear repeatability is +/- .00005". A Fanuc based CNC system is standard.
