Fujitsu Offers Customers Easy-to-Use, Intuitive Solution for Creating Digital Libraries

Enhanced Graphical E-Binders, Support Across Entire Fujitsu fi-Series Scanner line, Windows Vista(TM) Compatibility Highlight New Rack2-Filer(TM) V4.0

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 17 Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today introduced the latest version of its e-filing and organizing software by PFU, Rack2-Filer(TM) V4.0, which enables users to convert scanned documents and digital data into portable document format (PDF) files and organize them into graphical e-binders and virtual cabinets. The latest software version is now compatible with Windows Vista and supports the entire Fujitsu line of fi-series scanners, in addition to its prior support of the Fujitsu ScanSnap for PCs.

The Rack2-Filer software V4.0, designed by PFU Limited, includes the same efficiency and organization as the previous version, with an enhanced graphical interface to facilitate even easier user interaction. Compatible on Fujitsu workgroup, departmental, and production scanners, the software allows users to scan important documents directly into the Rack2-Filer application and, with a simple click of a button, manage all the documents in the digital library. In addition, users are able to insert content created by other software, such as spreadsheets, presentations and word processing files.

"Rack2-Filer is much more than a filing system," said Michael Sidejas, product manager, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "Users can bring all of their scanned documents and other digital data into one very understandable and intuitive place and then organize and enhance it for even greater value to themselves and for others. It's really about bringing the best of the paper world to our digital lifestyle."

The e-binders and virtual cabinets (up to 2,520,000 digital pages in 2,520 virtual binders) displayed on the PC, mirror the organization of a paper filing system, with name, title and dates visible, but with the simplicity and power of digital access. With the refreshed graphical interface, access to labeled binders and bookshelves are a simple click away, rather than the paper shuffling that is typical of offline filing cabinets.

The virtual library includes e-cabinets that can be organized by category and e-binders that can be created, edited and categorized graphically. Additionally, the advanced organization features make digital content highly accessible to users and include the following:

o Self-updating table of contents page to quickly jump to a section
o Customizable divider sheets to keep e-binders organized
o Attachable e-notes to serve as reminders or bookmarks to quickly return to a page
o Highlighting tool with a vast palette of colors to emphasize important data
o Enhanced binder spine editing for creating more creative and discernable e-binders
o Thumbnail view to quickly re-sort or delete pages between divider sheets
o Several viewing options including a magnification feature to quickly view the fine print
o Assortment of digital stamps for enhancing communication
o Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for making content searchable by word or phrase
o Multi-binder search capability with advanced search by criteria functionality
o Work Area (virtual desk) providing the ultimate in drag and drop control over content
o Advanced page insertion controls such as auto rotation, de-skew, and blank removal
o Customizable hyperlinks for creating one-click accessibility to a specified URL

In addition to creating and organizing the digital libraries, the Rack2- Filer software also enables users to easily share content for easy collaboration, either by exporting to the widely-accepted PDF format and sending to a printer or attaching in an email, or sharing full-functioning e- binders with other Rack2-Filer software users.

"Fujitsu has experienced an overwhelmingly positive response to the Rack2- Filer application for the ScanSnap scanner, which has fueled the company to extend this application offering to our extensive customer base," said Victor Kan, Vice President of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "We look forward to celebrating more success with our customers and are confident that they will find the value in digital archiving with Rack2-Filer."

Rack2-Filer V4.0 is priced at $249.00 and is available now via Fujitsu authorized resellers, including CDW (http://www.cdw.com/), CDWG (http://www.cdwg.com/), DELL (http://www.dell.com/), Insight (http://www.insight.com/), Merrimack/PC Connection (http://www.pcconnection.com/), PCMall (http://www.pcmall.com/), PCNation (http://www.pcnation.com/) and Tiger Direct (http://www.tigerdirect.com/).
