AAEON Announces a New Computer on Module - ETX-701

Taipei Taiwan (April 20, 2009)-AAEON, a premier Industrial PC manufacturer, unveiled a new Computer On Module that adopts the low power AMD Geode(TM) LX series processor: The ETX-701. This computer module is an advanced model of the ETX-700 Revision B in that it offers additional storage options for customers' carrier boards.

The ETX-701 features the AMD Geode(TM) LX series processor with its companion CS5536 chipset. Like the ETX-700 Rev. B, it supports one 200-pin DDR400 system memory up to 1GB and DDR333 system memory up to 512MB. It also supports four 32-bit PCI buses, 8-bit/16-bit ISA buses, one SMBus and one I2C bus that enable the customers to conveniently expand their systems without the extra cost of hubs. For Ethernet support, it features the Realtek RTL8139DL 10/100Mb Ethernet chipset with the option for customers to convert to the Intel® 82551QM chipset, as needed for their application. For video support, the ETX-701 supports simultaneous output to CRT and LCD, and the integrated video control of the LX processor can share up to 254MB of system memory for use as video memory. The module supports up to 18-bit or 24-bit single-channel LVDS LCD panels or 18-bit or 24-bit TTL LCD panels in order to provide customers more options for video output.

"The ETX-701 integrates many primary functions into a small form factor. Customers can use the options available on the ETX-701 to design their own carrier board to utilize the expansion flexibility as well as take advantage of the many storage interface options we introduce with this new Computer On Module. The ETX-701 has two SATA II connectors on the module itself and can support two PATA IDE channels. The CompactFlash(TM) Type I socket that is on the module is configured as a secondary IDE interface. AAEON also provides a service to develop carrier boards for customers to be used with our ETX module line. We can modify our existing carrier board line to meet the requirements of the application while utilizing the ETX-701's onboard storage options. This will keep the custom carrier board's real estate as open as possible to allow for custom functions and expansion. Using our DTD service, we can bring new products into market faster by meeting customers' requirements within 30 working days while saving development costs and reducing design and compatibility risks, " said Jonathan Lu, Product Manager of AAEON's Embedded Computing Division.

The ETX-701 aims at key markets such as Test and Measurement, Gaming and Entertainment, Industrial Automation, Military, Government and Security. Most of the applications in these markets require multiple functions and low power consumption that make the ETX-701 a great fit. AAEON's unparalleled Research and Development and Product Management teams provide options with the ETX computer on module line that assist in system expansion while providing cost control.
