Fusion Splicer features 8-sec fusion splice time.

September 5, 2008 - Maintaining continuous optical waveguide by melting 2 fibers together, GAO730 Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer automatically adjusts to environmental conditions by using temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors to provide constant feedback control to regulate fusion arc temperature. Average fusion splice loss is 0.02 dB for singlemode fiber and 0.01 dB for multimode fiber. Unit also splices dispersion shifted, non-zero dispersion shifted, and erbium doped fibers.

GAO FiberOptics Introduces One of the World's Fastest Fusion Splicers.

Toronto, ON - GAO FiberOptics has added the GAO730 Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer to its product line of fiber optic equipment. It boasts an 8-second fusion splice time, which is among the fastest times in the world for this type of product. The Sleeve Shrinking time is also an impressive 40 seconds.

According to ElectroniCast Consultants, (as reported in Lightwave Magazine) the world consumption of fiber optic fusion splicers for last year was $308 million and is projected to increase to $440 million by 2013.

GAO Tek's fiber optic division GAO FiberOptics is positioned to provide a broad range of fiber optic equipment and instruments to this burgeoning market. GAO offers high quality products at competitive prices, rapidly delivery and great customer service.

Fusion splicing maintains a continuos optical waveguide by melting two fibers together. The key to a successful splice is to provide just enough energy to the fibers so that the molten core and the cladding do not mix.

Fusion splicing is preferred over mechanical splices for its inherent durability and strength. The average fusion splice loss for Singlemode fiber is about 0.02dB and for Multimode 0.01dB. The GAO730 also splices Dispersion Shifted, Non-Zero Dispersion Shifted, and Erbium Doped fibers. Mechanical splices typically have 0.1 up to 0.3dB loss.

The GAO730 automatically adjusts to environmental conditions by using temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors to provide constant feedback control to regulate the fusion arc temperature. This insures uniform quality splicing over a wide range of atmospheric conditions.

As a world class unit, the GAO730 has the optional capability to communicate in several languages, including: English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Russian.
