New Technology Makes Fighting Hackers, Spam and Viruses Easier, Cheaper

Greencomputer's PowerElf® II Server Appliance Cut Costs for SMB/Enterprise

EDMONTON, Alberta, September 9, 2004 - Greencomputer Innovation (GCI) is launching its new combination firewall, antispam and antivirus engines for its line of PowerElf II server appliances. The technology in the PowerElf II provides complete protection from hackers, viruses and spam at low cost to businesses.

Because the solution is delivered to the client in "appliance" form, no software is required to install and little administration is required in order to begin reaping the benefits of virus and spam-free e-mail.

The appliance can be implemented into any mail system, at any level - including being a full-blown mail server itself. E-mail services include POP3, IMAP, SMTP as well as a webmail system. Employees on the road can check their e-mail via the secure 128-bit encrypted webmail. If the network does not have firewall protection, the PowerElf II can be implemented with its "Auto-defense firewall" technology to protect the e-mail servers, and the internal network, from hack attempts. The Auto-defense firewall includes an intrusion detection system (IDS) to spot hackers before they can collect enough information about specific services on the network.

"The PowerElf II server appliance works just as well in a large company, as it does in the SMB environment", said Tyler Monroe, Business Development, Greencomputer Innovation. "The antispam and antivirus modules do not have per-user licensing schemes or per-domain costs, so it's one price for everybody."

The new flat-rate licensing pricing makes the PowerElf II particularly attractive for the school and enterprise environment where the need for spam protection has made products a critical part of the network.

The server starts at $1899, and can be custom-configured by the customer.
